The white oak tree has been one of the gold standards for drawing in deer and wildlife. Although slow growing, this hardy, large mast producing tree also gives value and beauty to a landscape. These leaves will hold well into fall proving a visual barrier as well as a great food source. White oaks have a large taproot and once planted should never be transplanted.
White oaks that are not protected will have growth significantly reduced. On our test farm a tubed tree at 3 years of age reaches nearly 8' with great vertical growth. A non-tubed tree is half that height and nearly resembles a bush due to the buds getting nipped off by deer.
